Angela Martinelli is an author-illustrator who earned a B.A. in Art, with a focus in painting, and a Minor in Italian from Colby College in Maine. She studied abroad at the Accademia di Belle Arti and the University of Bologna, Italy. After moving to Colorado in 2008, she continued her education in graphic design and sold paintings at the Evergreen and Golden Fine Arts festivals, as well as the Golden History Museum. In 2021 she earned a Certificate in Waldorf Education from Antioch University, New England while teaching art, reading, and writing at the K-12 Denver Waldorf School.
Angela is a member of SCBWI and has been writing for children since 2021. In 2023 and 2024, she received honorable mentions in Kaitlyn Leann Sanchez’s and Susanna Leonard Hill’s online, kidlit writing contests. Three of her poems were published in the Dirigible Balloon webzine in 2025. When she was a girl, Angela remembers inviting friends over “just to draw”. Today, her hand-painted, watercolor illustrations showcase the magic children find in everyday life. She writes heartfelt, fictional children’s picture books and poems with a lyrical voice about food, outdoor fun, and family. When she’s not creating, Angela and her husband soak up sun and snow chasing their two daughters and two dogs around Denver, Colorado. She enjoys skiing, hiking, baking, and camping with her family. |
